PICK-UP LOCATIONS
Food options at Moraine Lake are very limited, with only a small café offering basic snacks and drinks. Lake Louise has more choices, including the convenient grab-and-go café at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise with salads, sandwiches, pastries, fruit, snacks and more.
For direct, stress-free access with door-to-door pickup, The Mountain Explorer Co. o(/home)ffers premium guided transportation from Canmore, Banff, or Lake Louise with guaranteed Moraine Lake access.
Facilities are limited. Moraine Lake has pit toilets only (no running water). Lake Louise has public washrooms, but lines are common—plan ahead.
Dress in layers—mornings are cold, even in summer. Bring warm clothing for sunrise, sturdy shoes, and a beanie. Mountain weather changes quickly, so come prepared.

All of our tours include convenient pick-up and transportation in a luxury vehicle. We also provide helpful gear such as hiking poles, blankets, sit pads, headlamps, umbrellas, and binoculars to enhance your experience. Complimentary hot drinks (coffee, tea, or hot chocolate) are also included.
We recommend comfortable shoes, sunglasses, and a camera to capture the beautiful scenery. You may also want to bring bear spray (optional), appropriate clothing, and most importantly, a smile!
Yes! Two popular (and fairly straightforward) options are:
• Lake Louise Lakeshore Trail
• Distance: Approximately 2.0 miles (3.2 km) round trip
• Time Needed: 45 minutes to 1 hour
• Why Go: This scenic walk along the lake’s shoreline offers breathtaking mountain and glacier views.
• Fairview Lookout
• Distance: About 1.6 miles (2.6 km) round trip
• Time Needed: 1 to 1.5 hours
• Why Go: Though relatively short, it’s a moderately steep climb leading to a spectacular viewpoint overlooking Lake Louise.

• Moraine Lake Rockpile Trail
• Distance: Approximately 0.5 miles (0.8 km) round trip
• Time Needed: 20–30 minutes
• Why Go: It offers one of the most iconic viewpoints of Moraine Lake and the Valley of the Ten Peaks.
• Moraine Lake Lakeshore Trail
• Distance: About 1.6 miles (2.6 km) round trip
• Time Needed: 45 minutes to an hour
• Why Go: Enjoy a peaceful walk along the lake’s shore with stunning mountain and forest views.
Yes! We offer complimentary coffee, hot chocolate, and tea so you can stay warm and comfortable.
You can pre-order lunch when you book but it is not included in the base fare.
We pick up in Canmore, Banff or Lake Louise and drive directly to Moraine Lake. Day Tours continue to Lake Louise. The drive is about 1 hour (98 km)m from Banff, depending on traffic, with a smooth, scenic ride throughout.
Moraine Lake Road is closed to personal vehicles year-round. Access is only via Parks Canada shuttle or a licensed operator like The Mountain Explorer Co.(/home), offering premium guided transport and doorsteps pick-up.
Moraine Lake Road is typically open June 1 to October 12. Outside these dates, the road is closed due to winter conditions. Shuttle and commercial access operate during this seasonal window. The Mountain Explorer Co opens on June 1st.

We know adventure often comes with a backpack and you’re absolutely welcome to bring one along. Our vehicles feature ample trunk space and may accommodate select larger items; for safety and comfort, we simply ask that any oversized equipment (such as bicycles or paddle boards) be approved with our team in advance, just email us!
We understand that things don’t always go as planned. However, due to our carefully timed itinerary and multiple pick-up locations, we’re unable to delay departures. If a guest misses their scheduled shuttle, they will be responsible for arranging their own transportation to the next location or back to town. We kindly recommend arriving 10–15 minutes early to ensure a smooth and stress-free start to your adventure.
At this time, our Sprinter van is not equipped with a wheelchair lift, so full accessibility is limited. However, if a guest is able to board the vehicle with assistance and without the wheelchair, our driver will be more than happy to help in any way possible to ensure a safe and comfortable experience.
Yes, absolutely. We comply with all applicable laws and regulations, ensuring each driver holds the required licenses and is fully insured for your safety.
For shared tours, we kindly allow only certified service dogs on board, ensuring a comfortable experience for everyone. Kindly email us ahead of time.
For private tours, you’re more than welcome to bring your dog along, as long as all guests in your group are comfortable and free of allergies. Kindly email us ahead of time.
From Banff, the drive to Moraine Lake is about 1 hour and from Canmore is 1 hour 15 minutes, depending on traffic and weather conditions.
